Questions

Straight answers, in sterling and statute.

Coverage, timing, VAT, insurance, and what happens if the cloth will not do what you hoped. If your question is not here, the desk will take it — or send it with your request.

Do you cover the whole United Kingdom?

Yes. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Remote postcodes (Highlands, Western Isles, some Cornish and Cumbrian addresses) are scheduled on a weekly run rather than next-day, and we will tell you the window when you book.

Which areas do you cover?

The entire UK — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Bristol have their own city pages as examples, but coverage is not limited to them. Send a request and we’ll email you within one working day.

What do you alter?

Men’s formal and smart-casual cloth: suits, jackets, trousers, chinos, jeans, shirts, waistcoats, overcoats and black tie. We do not cut trainers, technical outdoor wear, or women’s tailoring — not for lack of respect, but because the workrooms are specialised.

How long does it take?

Standard is 7–10 working days from collection. Express (about 72 hours) is available in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff and Belfast. Express (about 72 hours) +30%; next day +50% for simple work, where available — ask when you book and we will confirm before collecting. Complex jacket work may need a second fitting.

Are prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes. All prices on this site include VAT at the prevailing rate and are starting guides confirmed at the visit. There is a £30 visit fee, credited in full when work reaches £120, and a £60 minimum order per collection.

What if the fit is not right?

We recut once at no charge if the garment was pinned on you and the cloth allows it. If the original cut cannot reach the result we agreed, we say so before we take the piece — we will not take a fee to fail.

Are your fitters insured and checked?

Every visiting fitter is DBS-checked, holds public liability cover to £2 million, and travels with a Cavendish identity card. You will receive their name and photograph the morning of the visit.

Who will visit?

A named fitter. We will confirm who is coming, and when, by email before the visit.

Can you come to an office or hotel?

Yes. Reception, a meeting room, or a hotel suite are all usual. For corporate programmes we can hold a standing Tuesday slot.

How do I pay?

Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at booking or on collection. Corporate clients may be invoiced 30 days with a purchase order. We do not take cash in the home.
