What you pay for a home visit

A home-visit tailor brings the fitting to you. That costs more to provide than a counter, so there is a £30 visit fee. It is credited in full once confirmed work reaches £120 — so for a suit, a few pairs of trousers or a wedding outfit, the visit is usually covered by the work itself.

There is a £60 minimum order per collection. Prices include VAT, and every garment is confirmed in sterling after pinning, before it leaves your address. Nothing is charged until then.

What the visit includes

For the fee, a named fitter:

  • Comes to your home, office or hotel in a two-hour window, daily between 07:00 and 21:00
  • Pins each garment on you, in the shoes and shirt you will wear with it
  • Confirms the price of each piece before collecting it
  • Takes the garments away the same visit
  • Arranges the return, hung and pressed, to the same address

Examples

One pair of suit trousers to be hemmed: the hem is from £28, so the £60 minimum order and the £30 visit fee apply. This is the case where a counter may make more sense, unless other pieces can be added.

A suit with a hem, sleeves and a jacket take-in: from £158. That passes £120, so the visit fee is credited in full.

A wedding party of the groom plus three or more, fitted in one visit at one address: the visit fee is waived, work is at list price less 10%, and the minimum order applies to the party, not each man.

Who checks the fitter

Every visiting fitter is DBS-checked, holds public liability cover to £2m, and carries a Cavendish identity card. You receive their name and photograph the morning of the visit.

Where we visit

The entire UK — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Remote postcodes, such as the Highlands, the Western Isles and some Cornish and Cumbrian addresses, are scheduled on a weekly run rather than next day, and we tell you the window when you book.

Payment is by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at booking or on collection; corporate clients can be invoiced. We do not take cash in the home.
