Why uniforms need a programme

Uniforms are worn in public, every shift, by people of every build. A supplier’s size run rarely fits anyone exactly, so jackets hang loose, sleeves cover the cuff and trousers break on the floor. Guests notice, even when they do not say so.

A programme puts each colleague on file. A fitter measures and pins new starters, collects garments on a standing day and returns them hung and tagged, so nobody spends a day off queuing at an alterations counter.

How it runs

  • A named collection day, from the staff entrance, uniform room or post room
  • Pattern cards for each colleague, held under UK GDPR
  • New starters measured in their first week
  • Seasonal changes, such as winter coats, handled on the same rota
  • Monthly VAT invoice on 30-day terms against a purchase order

What we alter

Men’s tailoring only: front-of-house and concierge suits, waistcoats for bar and restaurant teams, shirts, trousers and overcoats for door and valet staff. Every visiting fitter is DBS-checked, insured to £2m and carries a Cavendish identity card.

Guests, too

Guests can be fitted in their room or suite on our normal home-visit terms — useful for a hem before a dinner or a sleeve before a wedding. They send a request directly, and we reply by email within one working day.

Hotel questions
Can you collect uniforms from the staff entrance?

Yes. Collection and return can be from the staff entrance, the uniform room or the post room on a standing day, with each garment hung and tagged to the wearer.

Can new starters be fitted before their first shift?

Yes. New starters can be measured in their first week. Standard turnaround is 7–10 working days; in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, simpler work such as hems, tapers, waists and shirts can be done on express (about 72 hours) where available.

Do you alter uniforms bought from a uniform supplier?

Yes, as long as they are men’s tailoring — suits, jackets, waistcoats, trousers, shirts and overcoats. We do not alter women’s tailoring.

Can hotel guests use the service?

Yes. A guest can be fitted in their room or suite on our normal home-visit terms. They can send a request directly; we reply by email within one working day.

How are hotel programmes priced and invoiced?

Five or more garments or people per visit: the £30 visit fee is waived and work on an agreed programme is at list price less 10%. Invoiced monthly on 30-day terms against a purchase order.
